How Captivity, War, and Reproductive Control Follow the Same Mutation Logic

This diagram shows the shared architecture across three systems:

  1. Post‑abolition captivity (1865 → now)
  2. Modern undeclared/perpetual war (1945 → now)
  3. Reproductive control (1873 → now)

Each system:

  • loses one form of domination,
  • mutates into another,
  • preserves the underlying function.

The pattern is continuity, not rupture.

I. The Core Logic (Shared Across All Three Systems)

When a system is forced to abandon a discredited form of domination, it mutates into a new form that preserves the same function while avoiding accountability.

This is the spine of the diagram.

II. The Three Mutation Chains (Side‑by‑Side)

A. Post‑Abolition Captivity

FORM LOST:
Legal chattel slavery (1865)

FUNCTION PRESERVED:
Extract labor, enforce racial hierarchy, suppress autonomy

MUTATIONS:

  • Black Codes
  • Vagrancy laws
  • Convict leasing
  • Sharecropping
  • Chain gangs
  • Jim Crow
  • Redlining
  • Mass incarceration
  • School‑to‑prison pipeline
  • Police militarization
  • Felon disenfranchisement

CURRENT FORM:
Criminalization as racial control

B. Modern Warfare

FORM LOST:
Declared wars with clear beginnings and ends (WWII era)

FUNCTION PRESERVED:
Project power, control territory, secure resources, maintain global dominance

MUTATIONS:

  • “Police actions”
  • Covert operations
  • CIA interventions
  • Proxy wars
  • Counterinsurgency
  • Drone warfare
  • Special operations
  • “Advisory missions”
  • Endless counterterrorism
  • Permanent overseas bases
  • Occupation without naming it

CURRENT FORM:
Perpetual undeclared conflict

C. Reproductive Control

FORM LOST:
Explicit state control of women’s bodies (pre‑20th century)

FUNCTION PRESERVED:
Regulate reproduction, enforce gender hierarchy, control lineage and labor

MUTATIONS:

  • Comstock laws
  • Forced sterilization
  • Eugenics programs
  • Anti‑miscegenation laws
  • Criminalization of abortion
  • “Fetal personhood”
  • TRAP laws
  • Contraception restrictions
  • Parental consent mandates
  • Criminalization of miscarriage
  • Surveillance of pregnancy outcomes

CURRENT FORM:
Reproductive surveillance + criminalization
