  1. CONTEXTUALIZATION

  • “He was drunk.”
  • “He was stressed.”
  • “He didn’t mean it.”
  1. SELF-BLAME REDIRECTION
  • “I pushed him.”
  • “I should have known better.”
  • “I made him angry.”
  1. REHABILITATION OF HIS IMAGE
  • “He’s a good man.”
  • “He’s trying.”
  • “He feels bad.”
  1. GRATITUDE FOR RESTRAINT
  • “At least it wasn’t worse.”
  • “He apologized.”
  • “He doesn’t do it often.”
  1. SYSTEM RESET
  • The cycle is framed as resolved.
  • The threshold for harm stretches.
  • The woman’s tolerance increases.
  • The man’s accountability decreases.
  1. NEXT VIOLENCE EVENT
