Relational Field Theory –

Relational Field Theory

I suppose this might be a good time to let you know that the person on the other side of this screen sometimes struggles with extreme doubts about their self worth. I know it doesn’t mean I am not worthy, but that I haven’t been met. This is new for me.

Happy Healing Fam!

Why You Weren’t Failing — You Were Dormant

Most people think growth is a matter of effort: try harder, push more, get motivated, fix your mindset. But that story only works if the environment is already safe, the conditions are already supportive, and the world is already ready for what you’re trying to do.

For many people — especially those carrying new ideas, new disciplines, or new ways of thinking — that’s not the case.

Sometimes you’re not failing.
Sometimes you’re dormant.

Dormancy isn’t stagnation.
Dormancy is protection.

And once you understand the architecture of dormancy, your entire life starts to make sense in a new way.

The Five Layers That Shape Whether You Can Move

Every person lives inside five layers of reality at the same time:

  1. Self — your internal capacity
  2. Field — your ideas, creativity, and worldview
  3. Structure — your material conditions
  4. System — the era and culture you live in
  5. Function — what you can actually do in the world

These layers aren’t independent. They stack. They interact. They constrain or enable each other.

And each layer has its own form of latency — the delay between potential and expression.

When all five layers are misaligned, you can’t move.
When they align, you don’t have to push — you activate.

1. Self Latency: When Your Body Is in Survival Mode

If your nervous system is overwhelmed, if your energy is depleted, if your life is unstable, your body will not let you grow. Not because you’re weak, but because growth is impossible when survival is at stake.

This isn’t a mindset problem.
It’s biology.

Dormancy here is the body saying:
“If I move now, I won’t make it.”

2. Field Latency: When Your Ideas Have No Place to Land

Some people carry work that doesn’t fit the moment they’re born into. Their ideas are too early, too complex, too plural, too relational, too ahead of the cultural curve.

When the world can’t receive what you carry, your field stays dormant.

Not because you’re unprepared.
Because the world is.

3. Structural Latency: When Your Conditions Are Too Harsh

Poverty, unstable housing, unsafe workplaces, chronic stress — these aren’t “barriers.” They’re kill switches.

If your material conditions are hostile, your system will not allow emergence.

Dormancy here is self‑preservation.

4. Systemic Latency: When the Era Isn’t Ready

This is the layer most people never consider.

Sometimes the culture itself isn’t ready for your work.
The platforms don’t exist.
The language doesn’t exist.
The audience doesn’t exist.
The institutions can’t metabolize what you bring.

You’re not late.
The world is.

5. Functional Latency: When You Can’t Yet Do What You’re Built For

Function is what happens when all the other layers align.

It’s the moment when:

  • who you are
  • what you carry
  • what the world needs
  • and what the moment allows

finally sit close enough to touch.

This is when dormancy ends.

And when it ends, it ends fast.

Why Emergence Feels Sudden

People often describe emergence as a rush:

  • “Everything moved at once.”
  • “I wasn’t ready.”
  • “It felt like something was happening through me.”
  • “I couldn’t have stopped it.”

That’s because emergence isn’t a choice.
It’s a threshold.

When the distance between layers collapses — when proximity and alignment meet — the system activates automatically.

You don’t “decide” to grow.
You grow because the conditions finally stop being lethal.

You Weren’t Failing. You Were Waiting for the World to Stop Killing the Thing You Carry.

Dormancy is not a lack of effort.
Dormancy is not laziness.
Dormancy is not fear.

Dormancy is what a living system does when:

  • the self isn’t safe
  • the field isn’t possible
  • the structure isn’t stable
  • the system isn’t ready

You weren’t behind.
You weren’t stuck.
You weren’t wasting time.

You were dormant.

And the moment the conditions shifted — internally, externally, historically — the field activated.

Not because you finally tried.
Because you finally could.
