Unsheltered Voices
The Fort Collins Police Department has released a series of videos that provide a look inside homelessness, addiction, and proactive policing strategies. By listening to the actual stories of those at risk, they are able to implement strategies that work instead of villainizing those who need help.
Everyone in this series has had to work very hard to get out of their situations. They couldn’t do it on their own. In order for alternatives to happen there have to be alternative options.
I recommend watching the whole series. If you do, pay attention to how many people just had a rough start. How many people just didn’t have any adequate mentorship, or someone caring when they were trying to figure out how the world works?
As a bastard runaway I suppose I’m sensitive.
Pay attention to the difference it makes to be treated like a person.
